“I suggested I was thinking about Pep and he gave his opinion,” Guardiola stated. “It was of course so high, he was his right-hand in one of the most successful periods of Liverpool.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guardiola emphasized that out of respect, he formally asked for permission before making contact. “I asked permission from Jurgen, of course, because I didn\u2019t want to interfere much,” he explained. “I said to him \u2018Would it be a problem to talk to him?\u2019 and he said absolutely not.” Following Klopp’s approval, Guardiola and Lijnders spoke and agreed to a deal within a couple of days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
